We soon realized that our kits could be helpful for all kinds of children, not just the ones heading out on vacation. Annabel, who has a daughter with a heart condition, was inspired to organize a donation of kits to her local children’s hospital. They were delivered to Lucille Packard to the delight of over twenty grateful recipients.
When Lorraine’s family headed to Central America, they connected with a village near the community of San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua, with over 30 kits to give away. The local children were amazed by the kits, and their excitement was a thrill to experience. We heard a few weeks later that they were still carting their kits around the village, and some had even used the clear bags to catch fish in the stream!
My Busy Kit is helping preschools by donating to silent auctions and sponsoring fundraisers where a percentage of proceeds are donated back to the school. My Busy Kit also supports Shelter Network, a Bay Area charity organization that provides resources for the homeless, by recycling extra toys into kits for needy families.
